From Tommy Peeler's Blog

No doubt that God asks much of us, but He promises even more than He asks.

Two verses which support Tommy’s observation:

1) Romans 8:18 – “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”  Suffering comes in all sizes and shapes, and Jesus was the epitome of suffering.  Paul had just said that we are “joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together” (8:17).  Most of the suffering that Jesus endured came from those who hated what He stood for.  We must be willing to endure whatever comes our way because of our allegiance to God.

2) 2 Corinthians 4:17 – “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory … For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” Amazingly, Paul calls his afflictions “light,” but that is exactly the point:  they are light in comparison to the return they secure.  Do not let the scars and setbacks of this life consume you.  Focus on Jesus’ willingness to endure for you, and always remember that eternal bliss, when it dawns, will obscure earthly trials even as the rising sun overpowers the evening stars.  Truly, God promises far more than He asks.
