Peace with God

Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ...” (Romans 5:1)

Standing on the receiving end of divine judgment is an experience I hope none of us will ever face. As the Hebrew writer said, It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:31). And why is it a terrifying thing? Because He is perfectly just and will deal out to each person according to his own sinful works. And for those outside of Christ and those severed from Him, eternal torment awaits, for our God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29).

Yet, for those found in Christ at His Parousia, eternal life will be freely granted! This is the ultimate expression of the peace of God. On top of that, Christians possess the promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5) and the pledge that we each have a special room in His palace (John 14:1-3).

No matter what happens in this finite existence, Christians have the guarantee of peace. We have freedom from the debt of our sins and freedom to boldly approach His throne through the atoning sacrifice of His Son. Plus, Christians have been given the comfort that He rules all and will deliver His people! So while the world fights for political prestige, economic advantage, and superior status, I’ll take the peace of knowing my God and trusting in His justification by my faith any day.
