The Imperative of Humility
We live in a society that is not just self-centered; it is narcissistic. As Christians, we are challenged to "have this mind in you which was also in Christ Jesus." To have the humility demonstrated by Jesus Christ resident in our lives depends upon how we view ourselves in our thoughts, how we view others as servants, and how we view God by submitting to His will. We need to recognize pride for the pervasive sin it is. We need to be aware of the insidious nature of pride, particularly pride disguised as false humility. And we need to develop the ability to course correct when pride is evident in our lives. Pride, for many, is a blind spot. When we are fortunate enough to "hear the horn" in our lives, we must quickly correct the problem and become more aware of other spiritual blind spots in our lives.
