The Organism of the ChurchSeries: 2017 Congregational Theme
When we view the local church as an organization, our focus becomes transactional in nature (i.e. I'm living by the By-Laws, I'm attending the meetings, I'm serving in some capacity, and I'm paying my dues). However, when we view the local church as an organism (a body), our focus becomes relational - we are bonded together in Jesus Christ and dependent upon one another for the purpose of building up one another and growing to spiritual maturity. Our connectedness as a body of God's people is vital in the areas of exhortation, church discipline, and helping those who are spiritually weak.
